Rubbish Disposal / Snow Removal / Gutter Cleaning

The City of Macedonia offers free rubbish disposal and snow removal programs, as well as a one-time gutter cleaning service, to residents age 65 and older who meet low-income requirements.

The City uses the current Summit County HUD figures in the low-income bracket to determine eligibility for the program. The City also extends this program to low-income residents under age 65 who are disabled. A current physician’s note of verification is required.

These programs are renewed annually. You must re-apply every year to determine eligibility, and proof of income must be submitted.

Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Detector Installation and Inspection

The Macedonia Fire Department will replace and install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors for seniors who are unable to do so themselves. This includes testing batteries as well.

Residents must supply detectors and batteries, but the fire department will properly install and test them to ensure they’re in good working condition.

To request a smoke and/or carbon monoxide detector installation and check, call the fire department at 330-468-8339.
