Winter Storms

During a winter weather event, the Service Department responds with 6 salt trucks on assigned Snow and Ice Control Routes.  Each Route has two staff members assigned in order to have a back-up or shift relief during major events.  We aim for assignment consistency in order to provide reliable service as much as possible.  GPS is utilized to verify crew where-abouts. Our first priority is hills, main roads and curves in the community. Side streets are completed as quick as possible. The cost of salt is $37.13 per ton. Macedonia orders approximately 5000 tons each year totaling an estimated $185,000 for 2013. Our fleet was recently increased by one truck and will soon include one more.
